JAMES SMITHSON'S 250TH HOLIDAY BIRTHDAY BALL!
PARTY LIKE ITS 1765 @ THE SMITHSONIAN CASTLE!
Presented By Smithsonian At 8
Friday, December 4th, 2015

When it came to gift-giving, James Smithson was a champ. On his death in 1829, the English chemist and mineralogist left his sizeable fortune to the United States—a place he'd never visited—to found "an establishment for the increase and diffusion of knowledge" called the Smithsonian Institution. Now, on the 250th anniversary of his birth*, it's time to give him a big thank-you by gathering in the original Smithsonian building, the historic Castle, for a birthday bash inspired by James, his era, and the Smithsonian itself.
Celebrate for and with him in spirit by dancing, mingling and funning the night away! Of course Smithsonian at 8 has no cut cards when it comes to partying with a purpose so step into our time machine and check out these highlights from the best birthday bash of the 18th century!
First Stop....."What shall ye say... A cocktail for thy brethren?" "Of course mi lady, of course!"
-Concoctions Provided by Tortoise and Hare-

And of course it wouldn't be a Smithsonian at 8 Party without the most awesome Arts and Crafts! Beautiful scenery and collectibles fill the castle where learning IS fun and rewarding! A virtual map of the Smithsonian Buildings and Surrounding areas gets you familiar with the area. You could also get Ornament ideas, play Bday Bingo, and of course the Smithsonian's famous scavenger hunt! You'll get clues, look for the items and win awesome prizes! One, being the best Bday truffles on the planet...Courtesy of Milk Bar! Yumm...

Then grab your friends and a prop then head over to the photo booth to capture your coolest pics! Take home a free stip of your memories of celebration with James...Strike a pose!
